Cavuscu Lake


This region is a fresh water lake in Ilgin town of Konya. This region gained important bird area status with many waterfowls such as Whiskered Tern population and Red-crested Pochard.

Appropriate criteria: A4i, A4iii, B1i, B2


Altintas Plain


This region includes a plateau and agricultural fields between Altintas, Aslanapa towns, and centre of Kutahya. It is estimated that about 20 couples of Great Bustard breeds in this region. The breeding is observed every year. This species can be seen in the region in every season.

Appropriate criteria: A1, B2


Turkmenbaba Mountain


This is a mountainous and forested area between centers of Eshisehir, Kutahya, and Seyitgazi town. The known largest population of Black Vulture (10 couples) in Turkey live in this region. At the same time, significant number of Black Stork, Lammergeier and Booted Eagle breed in this area.

Appropriate criteria: A1, B1iiİ, B2


Aliken


This region is formed of plateau and agricultural fields between Cifteler, and Sivrihisar towns in Eshisehir. It is estimated that 20 couples of Great Bustard breed in this area.

Appropriate criteria: A1, B2


Balikdami


This is a fresh water lake and swamp in Sivrihisar town of Eskisehir. This area gained important bird area status with Montagu's Harrier (15 couples) and Lesser Kestrel (10 couples in Ahiler) populations and migrant storks. This region is also very important for migrant waterfowls including Ruddy Shelduck.

Appropriate criteria: A1, A4i, A4iii, B1i, B3


Uyuz Lake


This is a fresh water lake in Konya. This region gained important bird status with White-headed Duck (10 couples) population.

Appropriate criteria: A1, B2


Cöl Lake


This is a salted lake and swamp area between Bala, and Haymana towns of Ankara. Greater Sand Plover breeds in this region. Significant number of waterfowls lives in this lake in winter including White-fronted Goose, Ruddy Shelduck and Teal. Greater Flamingo, White-headed Duck and Black-winged Stilt are seen around the lake generally after breeding period. The other bird species in this lake are Mallard, Black-winged Stilt, Avocet, Kentish Plover and Lapwing.

Mogan Lake


This is a fresh water lake and swamp in Golbasi town of Ankara. Squacco Heron, Red-crested Pochard, Ferruginous Duck and White-headed Duck populations breeding in this region brought important bird area status to it. Many waterfowls are seen in this lake at late autumn and early spring period.

Appropriate criteria: A1, A4i, A4iii, B1i, B2


Kizilcahamam Forests


These are the mountainous and forested areas in Soguksu National Park within Camlidere, and Kizilcahamam towns of Ankara. Black Stork Lammergeier, Egyptian Vulture, Griffon Vulture, Black Vulture (most of them breed in the national park) and Booted Eagle populations in this region brought important bird area status to it. Large numbers of vulture and Stork can be seen around a slaughter house on the coast of Kirmir Stream in the south part of Kizilcahamam.

Kavakli Mountain


These are the mountainous and forested areas in Gudul, and Dortdivan towns of Ankara and Bolu provinces. Black Vulture (5 couples) populations brought important bird area status to this region.

Inozu Valley


This is a rocky valley in Beypazari town of Ankara. Black Stork (5 couples) and Lanner (1 couple) populations brought important bird area status to this area.

Appropriate criteria: B2


Sariyar Dam


This is a dam lake rocky area around Beypazari, Nallihan, Mihaliccik towns of Ankara and Eskisehir provinces. Important species which incubate in the region are; Night Heron which nests in a poplar grove, Black Stork which nests on rocks, Egyptian Vulture and Lanner. Nallihan Bird Paradise is an important stopover point for several Stork and Ruddy Shelduck during migration period.

Hamam Mountain


This is a forested and mountainous area in Mihalicchik town of Eskisehir. Black Vulture and Booted Eagle brought important bird area status to this area.

Appropriate criteria: A1, B2


Sapanca Lake


This is a fresh water lake between Sapanca, Adapazari, and Izmit towns of Sakarya, and Kocaeli provinces. In this region; Red-crested Pochard, Pochard and Coot are the examples of significant numbers of waterfowls.

Appropriate criteria: A4i, A4iii, B1i
