Kultepe is 20 kilometres to the northeast of Kayseri. Near Kultepe, in a trade colony of the Assyrians, 14,000 Cappadocian tablets were found. They were written in ancient Egyptian with cuneiform writing. These tablets are very important documents.

Assyrians brought to Anatolia cuneiform writing, cylindrical stamps and Mesopotamian iconography.

In Kultepe, some woman figures carved from water marble were found. They were abstract human icons. They had flat bodies, long necks were triangle shaped, and had more than one head.

Animal shaped liquor cups (riton) are widespread.
