Hang glider is a single - seater air vehicle without an engine that flies by wind and other air effects.
Since its wing resembles delta shape, it is called as delta wing or hang glider. The delta shaped wing has the same profile structure with a plane’s wing. When the wing is moved in air, it produces a carrying force that is similar with planes. When speed reaches up to an adequate level, a carrying force that corresponds to weight of the pilot on the hang glider is produced and the hang glider begins to fly.
Its take – off, floating and take – off place are similar with paragliding. However, a longer training period is required for the flight. There is a parachute tied up to the person for safety purposes.
Hang gliding sports can be made at places where paragliding is made.
Training is given by Turkish Aeronautical Association and various aviation clubs.
