Kemer, situated at the foot of the Bey Mountains (Olympos) National Park facing a breathtaking mountain landscape, is one of the most beautiful and attractive touristic places of Turkey with its natural beauties, ancient cities, very clean coasts, luxurious hotels whose number increases especially in Beldibi, Tekirova and Goynuk, holiday villages, large and small scale touristic enterprises whose prices are quite reasonable, and colorful recreation life.

The history of Kemer almost dates back to the time when the first human being appeared on Earth. Beldibi Cave, which is in the vicinity of Kemer, bear traces of the Upper Paleolithic (30,000 B.C. – 10,000) and Mesolithic (Epipaleolithic) periods. The ancient city of Phaselis, the ancient settlement of Olympos (Cirali-Yanartas) and Cakaltepe, with its burning natural gas, are some of the famous places. Kemer is a significant Lycian port.

The fully equipped marina in the southern part of the city offers the yachtsmen or the yachtswomen intact beaches and bays that will please them a lot. All the beaches of Kemer have been given blue flags. Appealing souvenirs are sold in its shops. You can either take a walk on the beach that is in the northern part of the city or sunbathe facing the sea or enjoy a cup of coffee in the nice cafes and restaurants along this beach. The visitors can see the works of the traditional craftsmen in the Yörük Theme Park.

The fascinating and pleasant first-class accomodation facilities along the bays on both sides of Kemer host both national and international meetings and conventions as well as the perfect recreation, relaxation, sports and entertainment activities. This tourism paradise is also pretentious in the congress tourism.


Transportation


Road: Dolmush (shared taxies) service is always available from Antalya Bus Terminal.

Airline: Kemer is at a distance of 1 hour drive from the Antalya International Airport

Maritime line: It is also possible to come to Kemer via maritime lines.


Brief Historical Account


Kemer, which was founded by the Lycians, was ruled by many different civilizations. In the ancient city of Faselis (Phaselis) are the most important historical remnants of the region. Idyropolis, the Tower, remnants of the Church, the Seljuk Hunting Kiosk (Selcuklu Av Kosku) in the county town, the Gedelme Fortress in Kuzurdere Village are some of the historical riches of Kemer.


Climate


In Kemer, the Mediterranean climate prevails with its hot and dry summers and mild and rainy winters.

In Kemer Bazaar are the most modern and largest shops of the region. In Kemer, as in the other parts of the region, there are lots of shops which sell carpets, leather clothes and jewelry. In the shops selling goods special for tourists, you can find ceramic figurines, jewelry boxes made of curved stone and crystal household goods.
