Bursa leaned on the feet of Mt. Uludag reminds us paradise with its green environment. The city is truly known as the Green Bursa due to its parks, gardens, fields, orchards, forests and green areas.

Bursa which was a capital city of the Ottomans in the past is now one of the biggest cities of Turkey. Bursa is a city that must be seen due to its natural beauties, very green environment, rich historical structure and modern parks. Bursa which attracts tourists both in winter and summer is famous for its Iskender Kebab. Mt. Uludag, the biggest and the most developed ski center of Turkey, is only at a distance of 4.5 hour from Istanbul by highway. It is the most popular holiday place during winter times. The streets of Bursa which are adorned with the Byzantine and Ottoman architecture are also treasury of culture. Bursa is also an important center for congress tourism with its historical and cultural assets, natural beauties, its suitable location in the Marmora region and distinguished accommodation places.


Transportation


Highway: Bursa Intercity Coach Terminal is at distance of 10 km from the city center. Regular intercity coach services from Bursa to any city in Turkey are available.

Maritime line: Marine transportation is provided by means of Gemlik and Mudanya Port Towns.

Airline: There is an airport at a distance of km from the City in Bursa.


Brief Historical Account


The history of Bursa goes back to the years of 5000–3500 AD during the Chalcolithic Age. Some ruins belonging to this age were found at archeological researches carried out in the region. The city which was later ruled by the Frigs, Romans and Byzantines was under the sovereignty of the Seljuk Turks and the Ottomans. After the declaration of the Republic of Turkey on 29 October 1923, Bursa continued its development of a center for culture, industry and agriculture.


Climate


The annual mean temperature is around 15–16° C. The mean temperature during summers is 23-25° C and during winter it is 5-7° C.

The Green Tomb (Yesil Turbe) and the Green Mosque with their perfect decorations, Emir Sultan Mosque and the Tomb, Sultan Yildirim Religious Complex of Buildings, Koza Caravansary, Ipek Caravansary, Old (Tahil) Caravansary, the Long Bazaar (Uzun Carsi) and the Tombs of Osman Ghazi and Orhan Ghazi, Muradiye Religious Complex of Buildings, French Church, Gerus Synagogue, Ets Ahayim Synagogue, Mayor Synagogue, New and Old Bath, famous Bursa Thermal Resorts and Cumalikizik which sheds light to traditional old Turkish and Ottoman life with its houses, streets and districts are important historical places that must be visited and seen in Bursa. Bursa enchants its visitors not only by its historical and cultural assets but also by its natural beauties. Mt. Uludag, the first ski center of Turkey, Saitabat, Suuctu and Aras Waterfalls, Gulf of Gemlik and summer places such as Armutlu, Kumla, Mudanya, Zeytinbag and Siye are the places that must be seen.

The 17th Century Ottoman House Museum, Archeology Museum, Turkish Islamic Arts Museum (Green Madrasa), Ataturk Museum, the Museum of Mudanya Treaty House.


Beaches


There are long natural beaches in Karacabey, Mudanya and Gemlik provinces and beautiful beaches at the shores of Iznik and Uluabat (Apolyont) lakes. Natural beaches extend from Yenikoy, Bayramdere (Malkara) part to Zeytindag section of Mudanya. These shores that have a higher quality of sand are well-known due to Mesudiye, Egerce and Esence beaches located at the part of Yenikoy-Mudanya.
